Seniors

OUR SENIOR CITIZEN MINISTRY

This ministry is directed by our “senior citizen” Lay Minister, Ed “Methuselah” Young.

The Mission of Our Adult Mininstries is:
  • To work with other leaders in fulfilling the church’s mission of helping persons become disciples of Jesus Christ.
  • To address the concerns and conditions of adults in the church and community so that they may grow in their understanding of themselves and the Christian faith so that their quality of life may be improved.

Our “Social Seniors” meet the last Wednesday of each month at 12 Noon for a covered dish lunch and meeting program. Bring your favorite dish and come enjoy the fellowship of the Social Seniors.

We also host Support Groups to assist folks who are involved as Caregivers, Surviving Spouses (Grief), and other persons that are working with dementia related illnesses and cancer patients. These support groups are open to members of WBUMC and the Southside community. Persons involved with caregiving, etc. have limited time, therefore we gather once a month at the church on the third Tuesday of each month at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Time being a commodity, we adhere to this one hour.

For information about the support groups or about our senior programs, please contact Ed Young at the church, 912-925-5924.
